Dementia & Geriatric Care

Our Services
We work with Carrington Cottage in Daleville, VA to provide specialized memory care in a hospital-based setting.
We support adults age 65 and up who are living with memory loss or dementia, as well as their caregivers. Our goal is to help people live with dignity, safety, and comfort, while giving families the education and support they need.
We use a Positive Approach to Care® in our treatment plans. This means focusing on respect, understanding, and connection. Instead of correcting mistakes, caregivers learn to respond in ways that reduce stress and support remaining abilities.
Referrals usually come from doctors, hospitals, or community agencies. Families and professionals can also contact us directly for help with next steps.
What is Dementia?
Dementia is a general term for problems with memory, thinking, and decision-making that interfere with daily life. It is not one single disease.
Common types of dementia include Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia, Lewy body dementia, and frontotemporal dementia.
What Does Geriatric Mean?
Geriatric care focuses on the health and well-being of older adults, usually age 65 and older. It includes physical health, mental health, memory, and quality of life.
Things to Know
Early signs of dementia may include memory loss, confusion, trouble finding words, mood changes, or difficulty with daily tasks.
Healthcare providers may use short memory tests, ask health questions, and talk with family members to better understand what is happening. Early screening can help families plan and find support sooner.
