How do I learn more & get help

What will happen at my first visit?
Before meeting with a licensed professional, the client will meet with an Access Specialist to see if they are eligible for a full assessment by answering questions regarding mental health and substance abuse.
- If you are eligible for assessment, the Access Specialist will collect demographic information and review required paperwork (consent, financial contract, human rights, fall risk, confidentiality, DMAS, no show policy).
- Client may sign releases for other entities outside of BRBH to have access to their medical information here.
What do I bring to my first visit?
- Please bring: a photo ID, social security card, passport and/or birth certificate.
- Proof of insurance such as Medicaid, Medicare and/or private insurance (if applicable)
- We need this for your financial assessment.
- Please bring your legal guardian if you are:
- 17 years or younger
- An adult with a guardian
- Please note: Guardians must bring legal paperwork that shows them as the guardian.
- Any medical documents that describe conditions, illnesses, hospitalizations and outpatient treatment.
How do I pay for services?
Blue Ridge Behavioral Healthcare (BRBH) takes many forms of payment (Cash, Check, Credit Card, Money Order).
We accept Medicaid, Medicare and private insurance as well as offer a financial assistance payment plan. After payment by the insurance company, the remaining balance becomes the client’s responsibility and the client may fill out a financial assistance application at that time.
- You can pay in-person at BRBH (Burrell Center, Child & Family Services, Administrative Office).
- You can mail your payment when you get your bill for services.

How much will it costs?
We will bill insurance and/or process financial assistance applications. If interested, please ask to see a written schedule of fees and charges.
